A doctor allegedly murdered his wife and two children in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur on Friday. He is absconding at present and the police are looking for him.
According to a diary found at the site of the alleged murder, the accused was concerned over the new Omicron variant of coronavirus. He wrote, “Omicron will kill everyone. Due to my carelessness, I am stuck at a point from which it is difficult to escape.”
The accused had reportedly been depressed for a long time.
Dr Sushil Kumar, the head of the forensics department at a hospital in Kanpur, allegedly killed his 48-year-old wife, 18-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter and then messaged his brother asking him to call the police. Before the police or his brother could reach, he fled the scene.
On reaching the spot, the police sent the three bodies for a post-mortem examination. A blood-stained hammer was also found in the vicinity.
In the diary found nearby, the accused had reportedly referred to ‘an incurable disease’ he was suffering from. He wrote that he cannot leave his family in trouble and has, hence, set everyone on the path of liberation.
The police investigation is currently underway.
