Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A survivor of the bomb explosion at Georon’s place joint next to the famous Digida pork joint in Komamboga is crying out for support.

Rose Nakisita, 29, was working as a waitress at the joint and had been recruited three days before the explosion.

Nakisita who is a single mother to a six-month baby says she always worked up to 6:00pm, but on that fateful day, she extended her working hours.

She recalls a sudden loud explosion at the joint that threw her down. According to Nakisita, she woke up when she was at Doctors Clinic in Mpererwe, surrounded by friends and doctors.

Nakistia sustained serious injuries on her arm, abdomen and legs after she had been hit by the fragments from the improvised device.

Nakisita who lives in Bumbu-Kiteezi, Kasangati town council, Wakiso district, said that she could not continue receiving treatment at Doctors Clinic due to lack of funds.

According to Nakisita, it was her boss who contributed 333,000 Shillings for the medical bills.

She adds that she still feels pain and requires more treatment which she can’t afford.

Kevin Nagadya, one of the caretakers says that since Nakisita has chest pains, she struggles to breastfeed her child. She adds that there is no money to buy milk for the infant every day.

Royce Kabogoza, the Defence Secretary Kiteezi says that they have started a door to door fundraising drive to get money and take Nakisita to the hospital for further treatment.

He wants Nakisita and the other survivors of the bomb blast to be compensated.
