Vice President, Jessica Alupo has asked Ministers to be vigilant to ensure resources allocated to their respective sectors do what they are allocated for.
Alupo was yesterday speaking at the opening of the induction retreat for the newly appointed Members of the Cabinet at Kololo Independence Grounds.
“Be vigilant, especially to ensure resources allocated to your sector are deployed to do what you planned for in your top Management meetings,” she said.
“We should also put keen interest on all service delivery programs to our people, and, ensure import substitution and export promotion and give priority to industrialization and promote the private sector as this will help us strengthen our economy but also create jobs for our people,” she added.
Alupo also tipped Cabinet members on teamwork, time spending, and use of existing policies to execute their duties.
“Let’s work as a team amongst ourselves as Cabinet colleagues but also with technical people. Let’s be accountable for our actions and how we spend our time. Let’s always stick to already established policies in the discharge of our duties,” she told Ministers.
Since most of the Ministers Are Members of Parliament, the Vice President asked them to find a way at all times to have their sectors represented in Parliamentary sessions.
“Monthly Top Management meetings are a must as this will build a strong cohesion spirit and teamwork. Be good listeners, always calm, taking decisions only after gathering all the facts on the matter you are considering,” she further advised Ministers.
Meanwhile, the Vice President congratulated Ministers upon the successes so far registered since the commencement of duties, and singled out the Ministry of Education and Sports, and Minister Janet Museveni for medals won by Ugandan athletes at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics.
