The final rites of Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, fondly called Appu by his fans, were held at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Studios on Sunday morning.

The mortal remains of Rajkumar reached the studio at around 5:50 am from the Kanteerava Stadium.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other senior leaders and actors were seen paying tribute to the Power Star.

Earlier it was announced that Rajkumar would be cremated with full state honours and his mortal remains would be put to rest beside the grave of his father, the legendary actor of Kannada cinema Dr. Rajkumar.

People also gathered in large numbers outside the Kanteerava Studios while the last rites of the Kannada actor were being performed.

Basavaraj Bommai called it a “personal loss” and said that a great talent had been lost.

“It was a personal bonding with the entire family and more so with ‘Appu’. I had seen him as a boy. We have had a relationship since those days. Therefore, I am giving him a final salute. Certainly, I was emotional,” Bommai said while speaking to ANI.
