Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede
A five-member team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will question Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede on Wednesday in connection with allegations of ‘extortion’ levelled against him.
The team will be headed by NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh. Apart from Gyaneshwar Singh, officers of the level of Zonal Director are also part of the NCB team.
Witnesses KP Gosavi and Prabhakar Sail will also be questioned by the team.
The NCB team will leave on Wednesday at 9 am and will reach Mumbai after 11 am.
As per available information, Sameer Wankhede is expected to return to Mumbai tonight.
No action will be initiated against the anonymous letter forwarded by NCP leader Nawab Malik to DG NCB as per Central Vigilance Commission guidelines.
The NCB has ordered a vigilance probe against Sameer Wankhede after a witness accused him of asking for Rs 25 crore bribe through another witness in order to release Aryan Khan.
Prabhakar Sail, who claimed to be the personal bodyguard of KP Gosavi, has alleged that he overheard Gosavi and one Sam D’Souza talking about a Rs 25 crore payoff to let off Aryan Khan in the case. “They were discussing that Rs 8 crore would go to NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede,” Sail said at a press conference on Tuesday.
