President Yoweri Museveni has confirmed that up to three members of his staff tested positive for Covid19 on return from his recent trip abroad.
The President late last week traveled to UAE to attend the Uganda Day at the recently launched 2020 Dubai Expo.
From Dubai, the President also passed through Ethiopia to attend Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s inauguration.
On arrival back home, Museveni revealed today that three of the people he traveled with tested positive for the virus even though they had all been vaccinated.
“Although the Dubai people were very, very strict and of course we had checked here everybody was immunized; in my team — the president’s team — we came back with 3 corona infections,” he said.
Two of the cases he said were picked from Dubai and one from Ethiopia.
“This was just my group and one of them was the mechanic of my aircraft who was sitting with us on the aircraft. When we came back they checked us and we were still alright, but they shall have to check us again.”
The President while speaking at the 59th Independence Day celebrations at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, said his experience should serve as a warning to Ugandans who like traveling abroad.
“Please avoid these unnecessary travels; minimize those travels. We don’t have to travel.”
