Kakuru, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Environmental Issues assumed office at the university on Tuesday.
Speaking after being sworn in, Kakuru said he was grateful for being entrusted with the office.

“Kabale University started as a district project before it was taken over by the Kigezi Development Association, but I continued to support it until government eventually took it over.”
