In another big price hike, Indraprastha Gas Ltd has revised its rates for compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in Delhi and the National Capital Region, with effect from 6 am on October 13.
CNG price in Delhi now stands at Rs 49.76 per kg while PNG will be available for Rs 35.11 per SCM, Indraprastha Gas Ltd said in a statement.
In Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, CNG would be priced at Rs 56.02 per kg while PNG will retail for Rs.34.86 per SCM.
The price of CNG in Gurugram would be Rs 58.20 per kg, and PNG would be available at Rs 33.31 per SCM.
This is the second hike in CNG prices in the last 10 days, with an increase of nearly Rs 2.5 per kg. The last revision was on October 2, when CNG and PNG rates were increased by Rs 2.28 per kg and Rs 2.10, respectively.
Earlier this month, the government had raised by 62 per cent the price of natural gas, which is used to produce electricity, make fertilisers and turned into CNG to use as fuel in automobiles and cooking gas for household kitchens.
A PTI report had stated that the increase in gas price would likely result in a 10-11 per cent rise in CNG and piped cooking gas rates in cities such as Delhi and Mumbai.
GAS PRICES SOAR IN GUJARAT TOO
In Gujarat, Adani Gas has hiked CNG rates by Rs 5.24 per kg in the last 10 days. The price of PNG was directly increased by a steep Rs 70 per metric million British thermal units (mmbtu), effective from October 11.
The company had previously increased CNG prices by Rs 2.56 on October 2 and by Re 1 on October 6. On October 11, the price of CNG was hiked for a third time by Rs 1.68.
