Twiine said the case of assault was being investigated by Wakiso Police.
It is alleged Tumukunde further threatened more harm if he ever got Jasimwa or any other person back on this land without his permission, according to Twiine.
“The victim was a casual labourer to a one Betty Namusisi who apparently has unresolved land disputes with Gen.Tumukunde,” said Twiine.
A controversial former army officer, Tumukunde stood against President Museveni in the 2021 elections.
Tumukunde had in 2016 served as Museveni’s chief campaigner. This was after being retired from the armed forces.
In 2020, Tumukunde was arrested and remanded at Luzira Prison after encouraging Kigali, which is at loggerheads with Kampala, to “support anyone who wants to cause regime change in Uganda.”
It remains unclear if police have already issued summons or recorded statements from Tumukunde.
But Twiine’s public statement pointed to the possibility of police taking action against the 62-year-old former NRA war combatant.
