Prominent city lawyer, Joseph Byamugisha, is dead.
“The Uganda Law society informs you of the death of our member and past President, Dr Joseph Byamugisha of J.B Byamugisha Advocates…” reads a brief announcement to the institution’s members dated Sept. 28.
The cause of death is yet to be announced.
The deceased is the father of lawyer, Albert Byamugisha.
At the time of his death, Byamugisha was representing Bank of Uganda in a case against businessman Sudhir Ruparelia who is accused of swindling billions of shillings from the defunct Crane Bank.
Byamugisha lost his wife, Constance Kobusingye Kategaya Byamugisha, who briefly served as Acting Chief Justice, in 2013.
Constance was the younger sister of former Deputy Prime Minister Eriya Kategaya.
