Police at Kakiri have arrested the Headteacher of Fremah Nursery and Primary School located in Kikubampanga Village in Kakiri Town Council and four teachers for illegally conducting lessons during the lockdown on education institutions.
According to KMP, the five were arrested after an operation was conducted at the school premises, where 146 children were found studying.
In a statement, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire, said that police has informed the parents to go and pick their children as investigations continue.
The suspects are held on allegations of doing a neglect act likely to spread an infection.
The suspects in custody include Namutebi Maria Matilda, 41, the head teacher, Nakaweesi Cissy, 20, Adoto Florence, 28, Namakula Rebecca 34, Nayiga Christine 20, all teachers at the school.
Meanwhile, police says it continues with operations on curfew compliance in the Kampala Metropolitan area.
From the operations, KMP revealed that it has impounded 712 motorcycles, 147 motor vehicles and arrested 250 suspects.
The suspects are currently detained at different police stations where they will later on be released on police bond and issued with express penalty tickets, which they will have to pay first for their vehicles and motorcycles to be released.
“Members of the public are once again advised to plan their journeys quite early to avoid any inconveniences,” said Asp Luke Owoyesigyire.
