Ethiopian giant St George Football Club has signed former KCCA FC custodian Charles Lukwago on a two-year contract, the transfer is official.
”Charles Lukwago has arrived in Addis Ababa. He joins the Horses for two years. Tomorrow, he will start his training with other team members,” read a statement from St George social media platforms on Wednesday.
Lukwago joined KCCA at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season from now defunct Lweza FC. He also played for Sports Club Victoria University and Proline FC.
He was named KCCA FC captain at the start of the 2018/2019 campaign after the departure of defender Timothy Dennis Awany to Ashdod FC in Israel.
While featuring for the Kasassiro Boys, he lifted two Uganda Premier League titles between 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons and added two Uganda Cups in 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Lukwago was also part of the KCCA team that clinched the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup held in Kigali – Rwanda when they beat Tanzanian side Azam FC 1-0 on the final under the tutelage of Mike Hilary Mutebi.
He becomes the fifth Ugandan goalkeeper to feature for St George FC after Posnet Omony, Hannington Kalyesubula, Denis Masinde Onyango and Robert Odongkara.
