A businessman was on Monday night killed by unknown assailants in Seeta Mukono District.
The victim, identified as Fred Kayiza, was a resident of Ntinda Village, Seeta in Mukono Municipality and an entrepreneur who owned hard-warehouses in the area.
According to the Ntinda Village LC1, Mr Hamidu Kissa, the assailants killed Kayiza at around 7pm when he was from work.
“Kayiza reached his gate and passed through the small gate so that he could open the big gate to enter his vehicle Reg No UAR 820B (Noah). Unfortunately the assailants were already inside,” Mr Kissa said.
While inside the gate, the criminals grabbed him and killed him using pangas.
” I got reports from Kayiza(deceased) one week back that he saw people holding pangas around his home,” Mr Kissa Said.
Mr Kissa told Daily Monitor that police advised Mr Kayiza to abandon his home for some time since he had another home and it’s until September 27 when he came back to his house and was killed.
“He built another house and shifted his family and could just pay a visit at this home where he was killed from,” he noted.
Ms Sarah Mutesi, a neighbour to Mr Kayiza said: “I heard noise and people in a scuffle but I just proceeded to my home thinking they were family matters.”
Daily Monitor has learnt that the assailants jumped over the fence and fled leaving the pangas used to kill near the body.
Moses Mubiru, a resident in the same area said they are ‘‘panicking because this is how the killings that recently claimed 26 lives in Masaka started.’’
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the incident and said ‘‘they are investigating the matter.’’
The body was taken to City Mortuary for post-mortem.
