Security has been beefed up around the entry point into Sokoto State on the Gusau – Sokoto Road.
This followed a notice of attack on some villages by bandits, found under a tree in Shuni, a community in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Recall that fleeing bandits from Zamfara forests, who invaded and killed residents of border villages in Sokoto State last week, allegedly sent the threat notice of further impending attacks.
The alleged notice of attack was issued to five Sokoto communities of Shuni, Kwanar Kimba, Rikina and Dange.
The note had read partly, “A million army personnel will not stop us from carrying out the attacks, which may be carried out any moment from now.”
Since the notice was seen, it was gathered that security had been beefed up; a large number of soldiers were seen along and at the entrance into the Giginya Army barracks.
Residents also confirmed that police patrol had increased in the areas in a show of force.
There has yet to be official statement from the Sokoto State Police Command as the spokesman, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, could not be reached on the telephone. Also, text messages sent to him had yet to be replied to.
