The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu has applauded President Yoweri Museveni for allowing reopening of places of worship which had been closed for 3 months.
In his Pastoral letter addressed to Bishops, Clergy and Laity, the Archbishop also called upon all Christians to appreciate the new presidential directive allowing only 200 people to attend each service.
“Places of worship have been closed for almost four months. Let us begin with the 200 and also continue with radio ministry, TV ministry, and online ministry for those who will be at home,” he said.
“My understanding is that we can have more than one service in a day of worship so long as we keep the number at 200 in any service, observe the SOP’s, spray after every service or clean the pews, sanitize, and wait for the next congregation after keeping the space empty for an hour.”
Kazimba requested all preachers to keep services short, use masks, including the choirs, and encourage people to go for Covid-19 vaccine.
He further asked them to counsel and pray for the parents and students to wait for the few months before they go back to school.
“But we should engage them using WhatsApp and other youth related channels within their context.”
