Ahead of the state elections to be held early next year, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made seven employment-related promises in Goa on Tuesday. Arvind Kejriwal promised a monthly allowance for unemployed youth and 80 per cent reservation in private jobs for locals, among other things.
Arvind Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), if elected to power, will make arrangements to provide employment to one youth in each and every household of Goa. Until they get their jobs, they will be given a Rs 3,000 per month unemployment allowance.
Additionally, Arvind Kejriwal promised to bring a law according to which 80 per cent of jobs in the private sector will be reserved for Goan youth. Government jobs are already reserved for locals.
“Goans are afraid that people from outside will get jobs here after the mining auctions. We will ensure that 80 per cent of jobs in mining are reserved for the people of Goa,” Delhi CM Kejriwal said.
Since the tourism and mining industries have suffered due to the pandemic and closure of mines respectively, Arvind Kejriwal has promised a Rs 5,000 monthly allowance for families involved in these trades until their lot improves.
Finally, the AAP leader promised to set up a skill-building university in Goa and make the whole system transparent, if elected to power in the imminent election.
