Kampala – Ugandan ruler Yoweri museveni has today launched his campaign for the 2021 election in Luwero.
The 76 years old president has ruled Uganda for 34 years since 1986, though it looks disappointing or even satisfying – Museveni is still interested and was on Monday nominated to run for a 7th term.
Unlike previous campaigns where candidates would address rallies, this time round campaigns will be held following strict guidelines from the health ministry due to COVID-19 outbreak.
In adherence to the set guidelines, Museveni will start his campaign trail by addressing selected leaders from Luwero at Kawumu. Later, he will address the public through radio and TV.
In his tweet on monday, Museveni said
Launched our official nation-wide campaigns at Kawumu Presidential Demonstration Farm in Luweero District. Later today, I will make a media address articulating the NRM campaign agenda. #SecuringYourFuture pic.twitter.com/Z6rn9tVkXL

During a war which brought Museveni to power, Luwero residents suffered more that any Ugandan. This was a war zone , Museveni and Obote armies used to kill innocent citizens “Each one disguising to be from the other’s camp”
According to the NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba, in her letter to the party’s leaders last week, “The advance teams have been detailed to meet with the district leaders and all flag bearers of the NRM in each constituency within zones, before the arrival of the presidential candidate.”
President Museveni is expected to have meetings around the country.
